Shima Africa as a volunteer operator in Tanzania will lead you to your interests in volunteering experience to work with our local communities so as to support their sustainable solutions and growth starting with education, health women empowerment, construction and animal welfare.  

By volunteering in Tanzania through Shima Africa you can make a significant difference in the lives of children and adults in our community.

*Our accommodation is located in Njiro, one of the nice suburbs of Arusha, near the city centre.  

  • We have a concrete wall fence around the hostel
  • There are security guards 24/7
  • Hired security service
  • Hot baths
  • Free Wi-Fi
  • You can choose to stay in a dormitory of 4 to 6 or with a local family in homestay.
  • Our meals are a mixture of local and western cuisine with the seasonal fruits and vegetables
  • If you would like to buy extra foods, snacks or drinks, we have a fridge and cupboards to store them.

  • We have a wide range of programs and we have room for more, we are eager to work with you!
  • No previous experience needed.  
  • Your volunteer program in mind,

  • Make payments,
  • Embark on the trip of your lifetime.
  • You can apply, make payments even 72hrs before your arrival.
  • Multiple program applications are allowed.
  • If you go for multiple programs, only pay one registration fee but each program will need its fee.
  • You can change programs at destination.
  • You can work in any program out of your profession, experience.
  • If you have already volunteered in Arusha and you would like to go to your previous placement, we can make it happen for you.
  • If you have any idea of a program you would like to work, let us know and we can work to make it happen for you.
  • You can do more than 20 weeks, just name it and we can make it happen for you.
  • We will take volunteers from the 1ST to 15th then 16th to 31st but depending on your timing, you can chip in any time and we will be happy to receive you.  

 *WE WILL ANSWER ALL YOUR QUESTIONS AND ADVICE AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE. 

  • We will be available to guide you.
  • We will keep you safe and supported 24/7.
  • We will help arrange affordable airport drop off with us or our trusted transporters.
  • We will conduct orientation program so you will get accustomed with our life, Swahili language and our area so you will get to know your way around Arusha.
  • We will always be available just in case you need escort.
